JONAS RIGG

Jonas Rigg was born November 11, 1847 in Ohio.  He married Louiza/Louise Burill on August 31, 1869.  Louise was born in February 1855, her parents were Silas and Louise Hoffman Burill.  Jonas was a preacher of the United Brethren Church in Ohio.  Jonas died in 1926 and Louisa died on January 13, 1916 and they are both buried in the Big Run Cemetery, Butler, DeKalb County, Indiana.

Jonas and Louise had the following children:

1.   Anna Mary "Annie" Rigg was born on September 12, 1870 in Putnam County, Ohio.  She married Gene Osborn/Eugene Osburn.  Anna died on June 14, 1919 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn, DeKalb County, Indiana.

2.   Emma F. Rigg was born in 1871/72 in Ohio.  

3.   Cyntha Ellen Rigg was born December 30, 1873 in Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio.

4.   Arlettie Dell "Lettie" Rigg was born in 1876 in Paulding County, Ohio.  She married George Curtland on October 13, 1892 in Putnam County, Ohio.  Lettie died on January 9, 1961 and is buried in the Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Pleasant Lake, Steuben County, Indiana.

5.   Phillip Palmer Rigg was born June 1, 1878 in Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio.  He married Anetta "Nettie" Myers on August 28, 1899 in Putnam County, Ohio. Nettie's parents were Daniel and Ester Dicus Myers.  Phillip died on March 18, 1932 and is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn, DeKalb County, Ohio.

6.   Rosetta Rigg died at 9 days old on April 14, 1881 in Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio

7.   Henry Thormton Rigg was born June 15, 1884 in Pleasant Township, Henry County, Ohio.  He married Anna Elizabeth Noirot on November 9, 1906 in Wilmington, DeKalb County, Indiana. Her parents were John and Mary M. Bentz Noirot.   Henry died on October 30. 1960 and is buried in the Bronson Cemetery, Bronson, Branch County, Michigan.

8.   Peter S. Rigg was born September 7, 1887 in Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio and died at the age of one year 12 days old on October 31, 1888 in Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio.

9.   Alleta "Alta" A. Rigg was born in July 12, 1889 in Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio.  She died in 1921 and is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn, DeKalb County, Indiana.

10.   Jesse Lee Rigg was born on November 24, 1891 in Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio.  He died on September 18, 1892 at the age of nine months 24 days old of Spinal Fever in Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio.

11 and 12.  The newspaper obituary of Jonas Rigg states that there were twelve children from Jonas and Louise Rigg's marriage.  In addition, the 1900 U.S. Census of Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio states that six children died by the year 1900.  The following were addtional Rigg children that were found in the death records of Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio.  Not sure because no parents names were mentioned but they might be the above mentioned children:

    a.   Samantha Rigg died at the age of 4 years old on September 12, 1877.  

    b.   Earl Rigg died at 3 months 12 days old on March 28, 1894.
