Bertha Auguste Stenzel was born 17 September 1883 in Wollschow, Deutschland, Germany and came to America in 1889 with her parents.  

 

Bertha was confirmed at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan on 11 April 1897.  She chose for her bible verse Romans 8, 35.37.

 

 

Bertha married John K. Goodman on 5 May 1903 at Zion Lutheran Church, Iva, Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan by Carl L.T Mueller, Clergyman.  Their witnesses were August Stenzel and Fredrick Goodman.   John was born 5 February 1877 in Zilwaukee, Saginaw County, Michigan.  His parents were Joseph and Mary Goodman.

 

John and Bertha were engaged in farming and lived in Richland Township their entire married life. John and Bertha owned and operated an 80 acre farm in Richland Township on N. Rauchholz Road between M-46 and Geddes Road.  In 1916, there neighbors were Herman Tessin, August Mielke, John G. Raucholz, Martin Bauer, and Charles Wardin.

 

Bertha died on 26 March 1970 and John on 23 November 1976.   Bertha and John are buried in the Richland Lutheran Cemetery, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.

Wilbert Frederick Goodman was born 11 January 1905 Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan.   Wilbert was married to Opal M. Bradford on 23 August 1931 in Saginaw County, Michigan by Rev. W. Roth.   Opal was born on 13 October 1907 in Fremont Township, Saginaw County, Michigan.  Her parents were Orma and Nina Robinson Bradford.

 

Wilbert and Opal were both Hemlock High School 1925 graduates.  While attending Hemlock High School Wilbert was on the basketball team and was a member of the Hemlock Hustlers Handicraft Club.

 

When Wilbert registered for the WWII draft on 16 October 1940, he was living in Saginaw, Michigan with his wife and working for the Franklin Oil Company. Opal received her teacher's degree fron Central Michigan University and taught in Saginaw County Schools.

 

Wilbert and Opal had a daughter, Nancy Goodman.

 

Wilbert died on 20 August 1983 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan. Opal died on 4 June 1996 in Chandler, Maricopa County, Arizonia.  Wilbert and Opal are buried in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

Leona Marie Goodman was born 6 August 1907 in Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.  She married William A. Goodeman on 23 April 1927 at St. Peter's Evangical Lutheran Church, Richland Township, Saginaw County, Mi. Their witnesses were Wilbert Goodman and Opal Bradford.   William was born 2 September 1900 in Kochville Township, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan. His parents were William and Libbie Ludum Goodeman.

 

Leona was a memaber of Countryside Church in Saginaw, Michigan, its women's organization and Senior Citizen group.

 

Leona and William had two daughters, Lorraine and Donna.

 

Leona died 8 February 1993 and William died  11 June 1974, they are both buried in the Kochville Cemetery, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

Edna Hildegard Goodman was born 4 December 1908 in Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.  She married William S. Guettler on 14 April 1929 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan by Ernst Walter, Lutheran Pastor. Their witnesses were Wilbert Goodman and Clara Guettler.  William's parents were Adam and Catherine Foerster Guettler.  They had three children; Melvin, Alvera, and Evelyn Guettler. 

 

William died in January 1950. Then Edna married Edward Kaufman on 6 July 1957. 

 

Edna was a student at Hemlock High School in Hemlock, Michigan. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hemlock, Richland Township, Michigan, living in Hemlock most of her life.

 

Edna died on 6 May 1992 in St. Louis, Gratiot County, Michigan. She is buried in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.
