Gustave Friedrich Karl Rohde (Karl Friedrich, Wilhelm Rohde) was born 7 July 1887 in Gorkow, Kreis Randow, Pommern, Germany.  He died 13 February 1966 in St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw, Michigan and was buried 16 February 1966 in Richland Township Cemetery, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.

 



Gustave married Agnes Ann Pretzer, daughter of Karl August Pretzer and Augusta Gensch, on 14 February 1912 in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Richland Township,  Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.  Agnes was born 2 March 1893 in Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.  She died 5 July 1967 in Merrill, Saginaw County, Michigan and was buried 8 July 1967 in Hemlock Township Cemetery, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.

 

Gustav was confirmed on the 31st of March 1901 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock, Michigan. His Confirmation Bible Verse was Psalm 32 V. 8.  The witnesses for Gustav and Agnes marriage were Albert Rohde, Clara Crueger, Johann Pretzer and Bertha Diener.  Gustav was a farmer and engaged in farming and he also worked for the Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan. Agnes had resided in the Hemock/Merrill vacinity all of her life.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Iva, Michigan.

3.  Carl Wilhelm August Rohde was born 13 February 1916 and was christened 5 March 1916 in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.  He died 12 March 1916 and was buried 15 March 1916 in Richland Lutheran Cemetery, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.  Carl's sponsors of baptism were Albert Rohde, Anna Rohde, Louise Rohde, and Wilhelm Stenzel. Carl was one month old when he died.

4.   Ernest Karl Rohde was born 10 June 1917 and died 16 March 1976.

5.   Ella Emilie Rohde was born 22 September 1919 and died 1 July 1958.

6.   Margaret Clara Rohde was born 18 January 1922 and died 15 March 2007.

7.   Violet Eleanor Rohde was born 24 May 1924 and died 22 September 2006.

Olga married Nicholas John Sr. Roach on 6 December 1933.  Nicholas was born 8 August 1912 in Saginaw, Michigan.  He died 10 February 1958 in Merrill, Michigan and was buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Saginaw, Michigan.

1.   Pauline J. Rohde was born 3 December 1931 and was married to Bruce Earl LaLonde on 24 April 1954. Pauline died 28 October 2017 at Chesaning Nursing Care Home, Chesaning, Saginaw County, Michigan and is buried at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

Pauline and Bruce had the following children:

1. a. Pauline's son - Keith Allen LaLonde was born 31 March 1955 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  He died on 23 April 2006 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was a Boiler Engineer with the VA Hospital and was a U.S. Navy Veteran.  Keith enlisted with the United States Navy on 16 September 1975 and was discharfged on 18 September 1980.  He was Vice-President and Stagehand with IATSR Local 146, member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and hobbies included hunting, fishing, billards and motor bike cycle riding.  Keith was married and had two children.

2.  Shirley Ann Roach was born on 1 June 1934 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  She married Richard Dale Carter.  Dale died on 14 August 1965 and Shirley on 22 February 2015, they are buried in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, Gratiot County, Michigan. Shirley and Richard had three children: Duane, Richard Jr., and Pamela Sue.

 

3.  Donna M.  Roach was born 6 April 1936 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  She married Vernon Ray Jr. Northrup.  Donna died 26 October 1997 at LaGrange, LaGrange County, Indiana. Vernon died on 19 May 2017, they are buried in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, Gratiot County, Michigan.

 

 4.  Nicholas James Roach was born  on 4 June 1937 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.   He married Mary Ann Badour.  Nicholas James served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Hemlock-Merrill V.F.W. Post # 7302 and the Breckenridge American Legion Post # 295. He was employed by The Dow Chemical Co., retiring in 1989 with 24 years of service. He enjoyed sports, especially NASCAR. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ryan.  Nicholas James died on 9 May 2007 in Midland County, Michigan.  He is buried in St. Patrick Cemetery, Mt. Haley Township, Midland County, Michigan.

      

5.   Darlene Mae Roach was bornon 28 February 1941 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  Darlene married Gary Lee Schloneger, he was born in 1937 and died on 3 May 1960,  as a result of a motorcycle accident. Darlene married for a second time to David J. Bremer, he was born in 1938 and died on 3 July 1964, as a result of ijuries received when struck by an automobile.   Darlene married to her third husband, Charles James Wolfgang who was born in 1941 and died on 10 October 2012. Darlene's children are Gary, Charles, Roland, Kevin and Michelle .  Darlene died 28 June 2019 at the Masonic Pathways, Alma, Michigan.  She is buried in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, Gratiot County, Michigan.

 

5. a. 1. Darlene's son -  Gary Ray Schloneger was born on 17 December 1958 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  He died on 17 November 2019 in Breckenride, Gratiot County, Michigan.  He was buried in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, Gratiot County, Michigan.  

Gary served his country and protected our freedoms while in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Constellation.  Since their ship often docked, they had a lot of fresh good food--better than any of the other navy ships.  Gary then worked as a Chef at Petticoat Junction, Alma, Michigan, and later, he and his mother owned Country Kitchen in Hemlock, Michigan.  He was the family historian and had endless stories to tell.  The greatest joy in his life was spending time with his nieces and nephews

6.  Gary Edward Roach was born on 12 October 1944 and died on 31 October 1944 and is buried in the Olivet Cemetery, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan

 

7.   Carol Roach married Glenn Warner.

 

 

8.   Patricia Mary "Pat" Roach was born on 25 January 1946 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  She married Emerson Sitts.  Pat had two children, Kim and Kurt. "Pat was a homemaker most of her life.  In her younger years she loved babysitting, she considered those children her own as well.  Many of them to this day would still come to visit with her. She loved baking and was very famous for her "Christmas Cookies".  She enjoyed going to the Mackinaw Bridge, setting by the water with a coffee and donut in hand.  Pat has 6 wonderful grandchildren that she loved very much and was very proud of.  She has a special place in each one of their hearts."Pat died  25 April at her home.

9.  Kathleen C. "Kathy" Roach was born 12 July 1947 in Saginaw, Saginaw, County, Michigan.  She married Francis "Robert"  Sugar. "Kathy was a recess monitor at Hemlock Public Schools, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan for many years of loyal  and dedicated service.  She also loved camping and cherished her family very much."  Kathy died on 23 December 2021 and Robert died on 22 March 2017.  Kathy and Bob had two daughters, Antoinette and Mary.

Olga also married Harold Spence.  Harold died on 1 September 1986 in Allen Park City, Wayne County, Michigan.

Herman Henrich Rohde was born 7 September 1914 in Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan and was christened 27 September 1914 in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan. Herman's sponsors for his baptism was Friedrich Witte,Wilhelm Rohde, Olga Hoeppner, and Auguste Hinske.   He died 4 May 1978 in Midland Hospital, Midland, Michigan and was buried 8 May 1978 in Oakwood Cemetery, Saginaw, Michigan.

 

Herman was in the United States Army during WWII. Herman lived in Saginaw most of his married life but moved to Coleman, Michigan the last year of his life.

 

Herman married Clara Pauline Carley on 27 August 1938.  Clara was born 23 July 1918 in Saginaw, Michigan.  She died 13 August 1984 in Saginaw, Michigan and was buried 15 August 1984 in Oakwood Cemetery, Saginaw, Michigan.

4.   Helen Ann Rohde (twin) was born on 27 July 1945 in Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan and died on the 14 August 1945 in Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan at 18 days old of Status Lymphaticus.  Helen is buried at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

Ernest Karl/Carl Rohde was born 10 June 1917 in Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan and was christened 1 July 1917 in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.  Ernest's sponsors of baptism were Friedrich Rohde, Richard Hoeppner and Anna Howe.  Ernest was a Veteran of World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Army on 26 July 1944 and was discharged on 16 January 1946.   Before Ernest enlisted he was working for Mallable Iron General Motors in Saginaw, Michigan.

 

Ernest married Aletha Needham Roach on 11 March 1939 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan by Pastor Louis E. Wagoner. Their witnesses were Nicholas and Olga Rohde Roach.    They had the following children:

Ernest also married Lillian G. Diener on 25 May 1971 in Hemlock, Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan.

 

Ernest died 16 March 1976 in Veterans Administration Hospital, Saginaw, Michigan and was buried 19 March 1976 in Richland Township Cemetery, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.

3.   Arthur Carl Helfrecht married Wanda Lee Roe who had two sons, Joey and Daniel.   Arthur and Wanda had a daughter, Kari.

 

Ella lived in the Hemlock/St. Charles area  all of her life.  She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hemlock, Michigan. Ella was 38 years old when she passed away due to injuries caused from an automobile-train accident.   She died 1 July 1958 and was buried 3 July 1958.   Arthur died 6 May 1996 in St. Charles, Michigan and was buried 9 May 1996.  They are both buried in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw, Michigan.   

 

 

1.  Ella's daughter - Loretta with was born on 24th December 1938, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  Loretta was chosen to be on the St. Charles Homecoming Court in her Sophomore year and participated in Chorus and Officer, Varsity Music, Class Officer, Student Council, Yearbook, Newspaper Staff, F.H.A. and officer.  Loretta graduated from St. Charles High School, St. Charles, Michigan in the class of 1957.

 

She married James LeRoy Hollenback and had three children, Sherry, Andrew and Kathleen.   Loretta  died 17 December 1992, St. Charles, Saginaw County, Michigan.  She is buried in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan. 

 

2. Ella's daughter - Betty Lou was born the 2 June 1940, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan and graduated from St. Charles High School, St. Charles, Saginaw County, in 1958.

Betty Lou had worked in the home healthcare field and was also homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful cook. Betty Lou especially enjoyed animals and
her fish ponds.  She had two sons, Thomas.  And David Hawes Jr. who was born 5 June 1966 and died on 21 May 2014, he is buried in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw, Michigan.

 

Betty Lou  died 15 June 2012, Carson City Hospital, Carson City, Michigan and is buried in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

Margaret Clara Rohde "Margie" was born 18 January 1922 in Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan and was christened 12 February 1922 in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan and her sponsors were Louise Zabel, Karl Zabel, Martha Hinske, and Wilhelm Rohde.  Margaret married Herman William Rohn on 25 January 1947 in Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.   She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Carson City, Michigan.  She enjoyed cooking, cleaning and spending time with her family. She died 15 March 2007 at Rosewood Adult Foster Care, Ithaca, Gratiot County, Michigan and is buried in the Carson City Cemetery, Carson City, Michigan.

 

Herman was born 7 October 1921 in Wheeler, Gratiot County, Michigan. Herman was a World War II veteran and a farmer.   He died 26 August 1996 in Carson City, Michigan and was buried 29 August 1996 in Carson City Cemetery, Carson City, Montcalm County, Michigan.

Violet married Frederick G. Rohn on 7 September 1946.  Frederick was born 14 April 1918 in Jonesfield Township, Saginaw County, Michigan and died 15 January 1987 in Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan and was buried 17 January 1987 in Richland Township Cemetery, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan. 

 

Fred was a lifelong resident of Hemlock, Michigan and also served his country during WWII in the United States Army. Fred was employed by Dow Chemical Company for 30 years.  He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hemlock, Michigan.

 

Violet and Fred had the following children:

1.  Frederick George Jr. Rohn was born 24 December 1947 and he died 29 December 1947 in Saginaw, Michigan.  He was buried in Richland Township Cemetery, Hemlock, Michigan.

2.   Michael F. Rohn had a daughter Brenda.  

3.   Steven Douglas Rohn had two daughters, Theresa and Stacey...

4.   Stanley A. Rohn had three sons, Infant baby boy, Jeremy and Joshua.

Alice June Rohde was born 5 September 1926 in Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan and was christened 26 September 1926 in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan, her sponsors were Meta Hoeppner, George Pretzer Sr. and Martha Pretzer.   Alice married Lawrence C. Wenzel, son of Fred Ernest Wenzel and Elizabeth Isabel Fleming, on 14 October 1944 at Iva, Zion Lutheran Church, Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan by Otto C. Richert, Lutheran Minister.   Lawrence was born 24 September 1926 in Clare, Clare County, Michigan. 

 

Alice died 4 March 2000 in Pine River Nursing Home, St. Louis, Michigan and was buried 7 March 2000.     Lawrence died 24 March 1990 in Merrill, Michigan and was buried 27 March 1990.  Lawrence and Alice are both buried  in St. John's Cemetery, Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.

2.  Alice's second son  -  Daniel Larry Wenzel was born 17 June 1947.  Dan graduated from Hemlock High School, Hemlock, Michigan in 1965.  Dan enlisted into the U.S. Army on 3 August 1965 and served in the Vietnam Conflict and was wounded. He was discharged from the U.S. Army on 20 June 1969.  Dan married Sandra R. Rohn and they had a son, Daniel.  Dan was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Hemlock, Michigan and the Disabled American Veterans Organization. died 15 February 1971 in Midland, Midland County, Michigan. Dan was married and had one son.   Dan died on 15 February 1971, Midland, Midland County, Michigan and is buried in the St. John's Lutheran Church, Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan.

 

 

3.  Alice's daughter - Vicky was born 29 April 1956, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  Vicky had three children, Heather, Michael, and Amanda.  Vicky passed away 8 November 2003 in Alma, Gratiot County, Michigan.  She is buried at the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.
