Caroline Alwina Emilie Rohde "Lena" (Karl Friedrich, Wilhelm Rohde) was born 21 December 1896 in Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan and was christened 17 January 1897 in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Richland Township, Hemlock, Michigan.  She died 23 July 1971 and was buried in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Saginaw, Michigan. 

 

Caroline was named after her mother Emilie's, mother Caroline Stenzel, whose maiden name was Behm.   Carolina's sponsors for her baptism were Friedrich Witt and wife Augusta (Rohde) and Mrs. Wittkopp.  Caroline's mother Emilie, her father's mother was Auguste (Wittkopp) Stenzel.  The Mrs. Wittkopp that was a sponsor at the baptism for Caroline was a Great-Aunt, Dorothea (nickname Caroline) Wittkopp. Caroline Rohde was confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Evangical Lutheran Church and her Confirmation Bible Verse was Psalms 34 V. 4.

Caroline married Julius Herman Pretzer, son of Julius Pretzer and Fredericka, on 8 December 1915 in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.  Julius was born 4 August 1892 in Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan.  He died 16 October 1974 in St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw County, Michigan and was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Saginaw, Michigan.

 

Witnesses to Julius and Caroline Pretzer's marriage were Wilhelm Rohde, Esther Pretzer, Richard Pretzer and Louise Rohde.

Julius owned and operated the Pretzer Garage in Saginaw, Michigan.  Julius and his family also lived next door to the establishment.

 

Caroline and Julius had the following children:

1.   Harold Julius Pretzer and was born 16 June and died 22 January 1962.

3.   Raymond Julius Pretzer was born 9 December 1917.  He died 15 February 1918 and was buried 17 February 1918 in richland Lutheran Cemetery, Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan.  Raymond died of pneumonia at the age of 2 months and 8 days old.

3.   Junior Clarence Pretzer was born 2 July 1919 and died 14 August 1941.

4.   Maxine Gertrude Pretzer was born 15 January 1921 and died 10 January 2000.

5.   Anita Catherine Pretzer.

6.   Marvin Harold Pretzer was born 19 October 1923 and died 3 January 1993.

7.   Lois Ann Pretzer was born 30 August 1925 and died 13 May 2004.

8.   Lowell James Pretzer.

1.  Harold Julius Pretzer was born 16 June 1916 in Alma, Gratiot County, Michigan.  He died 22 January 1962 in Saginaw, Michigan and was buried in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Saginaw, Michigan.  Harold served in the United States Army Air Corp. in the European Campaigns during WWII and he rose to Staff Sargeant.  He was awarded the Bronze Star in Belgium.  Harold was also a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Michigan.

 

Harold married Florence Elizabeth Bethune on 19 October 1946.  Florence was born 14 May 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan.  She died 18 June 1968 in Saginaw Michigan.

 

Harold and Florence had two daughters:

 

1.   Nancy Elizabeth Pretzer was born 13 September 1948 and died 13 September 1948.  She is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Saginaw, Michigan.

 

 

 

 

2.   Margaret "Peg" Jeanne Pretzer was born 30 October 1949 and died 11 November 2008 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

 

  

 

Peg attended Holy Cross Luheran School, South Intermediate and graduated from Arthur Hill High School, Saginaw, Michigan in 1967.  Peggy attended Delta College for two years and married Charles (Chuck) William Henne.  Chuck graduated from Michigan Tech University in 1973 and Chuck's job had taken them from Michigan to California, Illinois, Saudi Arabia and Scottsdale, Arizonia. They also owned a Michigan home in Traverse City, Michigan.

Peg passed away and was a loving mother, caring wife, and a gracious friend to all that knew her.

 

 

 

       MARGARET JEANNE PRETZER HENNE

3.  Junior Clarence Pretzer was born 2 July 1919 in Saginaw, Michigan.  He died 14 August 1941 and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Saginaw, Michigan.

 

Junior died as results of an automobile accident on M-13 in Saginaw County, Michigan.

4.  Maxine Gertrude Pretzer was born 15 January 1921 in Saginaw, Michigan.  She died 10 January 20000 in Saginaw, Michigan and was buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Saginaw Michigan.

 

 

Anita was of the Lutheran faith and love to collect oil lamps and teddy bears.

Maxine married Andrew John Ursuy on 26 December 1946.  Andrew was born 10 November 1918 in Chesaning, Michigan.  He died 10 October 1991 in Pigeon, Michigan and was buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Saginaw, Michigan.

5.  Anita Catherine Pretzer was born 27 April 1922, Saginaw, Michigan.   She  died 1 August 2010 in Saginaw, Michigan and is buried in the Sims - Whitney Cemetery, AuGres, Michigan.

 

Anita married Russell H. Prueter on 22 January 1944 in Saginaw, Michigan.  Russell was born 16 May 1918 in Saginaw, Michigan.  He died 31 August 1991 in Saginaw, Michigan in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan, he is also buried in Sims-Whitney Cemetery, AuGres, Michigan.

 

Anita and Russell's witnesses at their marriage were Robert Preuter and Florence Bethune.  At the time of their marriage Anita's occupation was a Defense Worker and Russell was serving in the United States army.

 

Anita was of the Lutheran faith and love to collect oil lamps and teddy bears.

Lois Pretzer Cleveland

6.  Lois Ann Pretzer was born 30 August 1925 in Richland Township, Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan.  She died 13 May 2004 in Saginaw, Michigan and was buried in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw, Michigan.

 

Lois married Walter H. Cleveland on 30 August 1925.  Walter was born 19 January 1927 and died 28 August 1997 and is also buried in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw, Michigan.

 

Lois was employed at Lufkin Rule, Saginaw, Michigan for 25 years and with General Motors for 10 years.  She was a member of State Street United Methodist Church and the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Lois loved her cat, Casey, enjoyed playing poker with friends, was an avid scrabble player and boater and enjoyed traveling to Florida.

 

 

 

 

Lois and Walter had the following children.

 

1.   Joel Howard Cleveland was born 4 March 1947 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  He died on 7 July 2000 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.  Joel was a graduate of Douglas MacArthur High School in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  He was an editor for two magazines in New York.

2.   Christopher T. Cleveland was born 5 August 1958 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan. He died on 7 March 1991 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan and is buried in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.  Chris went to Douglas MacArthur High School in Saginaw.

7.  Lowell James Pretzer.  Lowell married Gwendolyn Schulz.    Gwendolyn was born on 15 December 1932 and died 18 November 2011 in Apollo Beach, Florida.
