MARTHA JANE RIGG LUNDY

Martha Jane Rigg "Jane" (Robert, George, Clement, Robert Rigg) was born 15 June 1844 in Perry Township, Carroll County, Ohio.  She died 11 January 1895 and was  buried on 14 January 1895 in the Dubois Cemetery, Alaiedon Township, Ingham County, Michigan

 

Jane married Edward Edwin Lundy, son of Edward Lundy and Martha Lott on 30 April 1869 in Mason, Ingham County, Michigan by William M. Coplin, Minister.  Edward was born 8 September 1843 in Yates or Orleans County, New York.  He died 1 January 1916 in Alaiedon Township, Ingham County, Michigan and is buried in the Dubois Cemetery, Alaiedon Township, Ingham County, Michigan.

 

Jane and Edward had the following children:

Catherine Margaret Lundy was born 21 December 1877 and died 2 April 1942.

Henry Robert Lundy was forn 18 June 1881 and died in 8 December 1928.

 

In the 1880 Michigan Census, the Edward Lundy Family is found in Eagle, Clinton County, Michigan.   Edward's occupation was listed as wagon maker; as was his father's, Edward Lundy Sr., occupation.   Edward Sr. married Martha Lott and Edward Jr. married Martha Jane Rigg. 

 

 On the 2 April 1888 Edward was voted in as Constable of Lakefield Township, Saginaw County, Michigan.  The Lakefield Township Chattle mortgages shows that Edward Lundy was purchasing something from Peter J. Conlan on 12 March 1889.   According to the map of the Badgero and Galloway Drains  of Lakefield Township, Saginaw County, Michigan in 1890 Edward and Martha owned 40 acres of the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 in Section 15 on the west side of South Merrill Road.

 Martha Rigg Lundy's niece, Ada Rigg Miller and her husband Edward Miller, along with her nephew George W. Rigg and his wife;  would have also lived in Lakefield Township, Saginaw County, Michigan during the 1890's.  In fact, all three couples would have been neighbors.

 

**Newspaper Article - SOUTHEAST ALAIEDON - Mrs. Edward Lundy died at her home in Sickels, Gratiot County, Mi; Friday, January 11th and was brought to her brother's Austin Riggs home in Adaiedon.  Her funeral was held at the DuBois school house Monday at two o'clock and was buried in the DuBois Cemetery.  Ingham County Democat Newspaper 1-17-1895.

 

 

**Newspaper Article -  "Edward Lundy of Owosso died Sunday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Horatio Every, in Alaiedon.  Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday, Rev. G. W. Maxwell officiating.  Burial in the Dubois Cemetery.  He was born in Yates County, New York in 1843 and came to Michigan when about 21 years of age.  He married Jane Rigg in 1868, she dying 23 years ago.  He is survived by a son and daughter of Owosso, Michigan."
